Please pardon me for not updating the blog in a few days. Last Wednesday we checked out of the Meridian KOA and made our way home. These five short days have seemed like a couple of weeks due to the sheer amount of work we've had to do just moving in our meager possessions (the rest of our gear sits at the mercy of Bekins in a climate-controlled warehouse in El Cajon...we are all keeping our fingers and toes crossed that the household full of furniture and memories makes it on the truck August 1. But I digress...).
There has been cleaning and organizing and cooking and hanging curtains and buying duplicates of all the stuff we packed with the movers because we didn't think we'd need but find we can't live without: As much as we like the local coffee shop "Mercato" it is easier on our wallets to make our own coffee which required us to purchase a coffee maker, thank you very much.
We've got a pantry full of food, a table, a "welcome" mat and a few inexpensive pots and pans picked up from the local Fred Meyer. We have our laundry machines hooked up so we have clean clothes. We are making do with camping chairs in the family room, watching movies (no DirecTV yet) on the electronics we borrowed from the RV. We didn't bring much with us but it feels like we have been unpacking boxes forever. We have discovered the benefits of Redbox and the local library. We are sleeping (well, I use the term sleeping loosely...it's more like taking 15-20 minutes naps, waking to turn on the saggy air mattress, in a continuous sleep-wake-sleep-wake-"get up to pee"-sleep pattern).
And, we have each other...it's what we really need.
OK. Not really. I could really, really, really, really use my recliner chair.
