One of the really cool things about living in Boise is that you get to see lots of different types of clouds and cloud formations. Yesterday, we caught a glimpse of nimbus clouds...

Nimbus...a cloud that produces precipitation that reaches the ground, either in the form of rain, snow or hail...we had exactly 5 drops of rain from this cloud.

| Nimbus virga...a nimbus cloud where the precipitation evaporates before reaching the ground. The virga looks like streaks from afar. We get lots of this type of precipitation in the Treasure Valley due to the dryness of the atmosphere over the high desert. |
